Bangkok – Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. announced its achievement of winning many safety awards from the recent ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia). The all-new Honda Civic* was awarded a 5-star rating in crash tests, while the Honda Brio Amaze was awarded a 4-star rating in the same crash tests. Honda also received ten Grand Prix Awards 2016 in a ceremony held by the ASEAN NCAP. These results recognize Honda’s continuous efforts to ensure the safety of Honda vehicles, customers, and everyone sharing the road.

The Honda Civic* achieved 5-star ratings in both frontal offset impact and side impact tests for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP). Honda Civic variants without Seatbelt Reminder for both front occupants were rated at 4-stars.

The 10th-generation Honda Civic was launched in Thailand in March 2016, with over 25,000 bookings to date. It has also received several awards from organizations in many ASEAN countries such as “Car of the Year 2016” in Malaysia, “Compact Sedan of the Year” in the Philippines, and “Best Newcomer” in Indonesia.

The Honda Brio Amaze achieved a 4-star rating for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP). The 5-door Honda Brio, which shares the same platform and safety features as the Brio Amaze, also achieved a 4-star rating based on the Brio Amaze’s test results.

In addition, Honda received ten distinguished safety-related awards at the ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards 2016, recently held at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. The awards Honda received are the “Best Medium Family Car in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP)” for Honda Civic; “Safety Technology Award” (Car Maker Category) for Honda SENSING, an advanced driver-assist system developed by Honda, and “The Most-Affordable 5-Star Car” for seven countries in Southeast Asia (ASEAN). With a remarkable ten awards, Honda was the most-awarded manufacturer at the event.

In the “Safety Technology” car maker category, Honda SENSING, standard equipment on the new Honda Accord Hybrid, was awarded as the technology that best contributes to safety for the year. Honda SENSING is a system consisting of two types of sensors with different characteristics. One is a millimeter-wave radar and the other is a monocular camera mounted on the upper, inside part of the windshield. The system recognizes not only its surroundings but also the intentions of the driver and conditions for the vehicle. It then applies collaborative control over certain components of the vehicle including the braking system and steering wheel to avoid or reduce the impact of collision.

Four key functions of Honda SENSING include:
• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow
• Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
• Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
• Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

With a global slogan of “Safety for Everyone,” Honda will continue to provide safe and reliable vehicles to help realize a mobile society with zero collisions.
