The Honda Foundation and Brighton Honda have donated over $3,000 worth of essential first aid equipment to Elwood Life Saving Club ahead of the busy summer beach season.
“The diligent volunteers of Elwood Life Saving Club deserve praise for their commitment to safety and I’m glad that The Honda Foundation can assist by providing this valuable first aid equipment,” Chairman of The Honda Foundation, Mr. Stephen Collins said.
The Elwood Life Saving Club is home to 640 members, including 250 junior nippers. This donation includes a treatment table, dressing trolley and a surgeon stool valued at $3,299. The new equipment will allow the club to tend to injuries ranging from jellyfish stings to more serious incidents.
Elwood Life Saving Club President, Mr. David Rylance, said the donation will be a huge help in dealing with the varied cases the volunteer lifesavers encounter. “This donation from The Honda Foundation is a massive boost to our club and will help our volunteers watch over thousands of beachgoers. We are extremely grateful to The Honda Foundation for its support.”
More than 50,000 beachgoers are expected to take to the shores at Elwood this summer and the Club’s local patrol volunteers will face more than 40 first aid emergencies, numerous surf rescues and hundreds of preventative safety activations.
The Honda Foundation aims to provide assistance to local communities and foster goodwill among Honda Australia, Honda Motor Vehicle Dealers and the public. It draws funding from Honda Dealers and Honda Australia.
The Honda Foundation’s Honda Heroes loan vehicle program supports charitable organisations through a fleet of loan vehicles, assisting with activities for the disadvantaged, disabled or those suffering from illness.
