Honda Ranks No.1 for 2015 Passenger Car Sales
Bangkok, Thailand – Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. announced its success as the leader of passenger car market in Thailand with top-ranking year sales of 112,178 units in 2015 (including Honda CR-V and HR-V from January to December, 2015) to achieve a market share of 31.5% based on the market figures of 356,052 units (figures include SUVs, which are subject to the same tax rates as passenger cars). Honda’s sales grew 5.3% from 106,482 units in 2014 despite a market decline of 13.5%. The sales performance in 2015 made Honda the No. 1 in Thailand’s passenger car market.
 
In the overall automobile market, sales totaled 799,612 units last year, a decrease of 9.3% as compared with 881,832 units in 2014. Honda’s sales represent the third biggest market share of 14% in the overall market that takes account of both commercial vehicles and passenger cars.
 
In 2015, Honda also won Thailand Automotive Quality Award (TAQA) for Outstanding Brand Image for Trusted Brand for four years in a row (2012 – 2015). The award reflects continued trust and confidence that Thai customers have in Honda brand and its products.
 
Mr. Pitak Pruittisarikorn, Chief Operating Officer of Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “Amid the slow economy and automobile market at large, Honda contrarily grew and ranked No. 1 in the passenger car market in 2015. Our success last year was attributed to the confidence that Thai customers always have in our products, especially    the very well-received Honda HR-V. Moreover, Honda also won our fourth consecutive TAQA Award for Outstanding Brand Image for Trusted Brand. We would like to express    our gratitude to Thai customers for their trust in Honda products and services all along.”
 
“In 2016, Honda will continue to heighten our services for maximum satisfaction of the customers together with introduction of new cars. We plan to launch many new models this year, including the new Honda BR-V that will fulfill our SUV lineup and the new-generation Honda Civic that is much awaited by customers. With our lineup of new products, the automobile market in Thailand will be enlivened as well,” he revealed.
