Astra Honda Presents New Variant Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin
JAKARTA - PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) released Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin type Adventure Sports to enrich the choice for motorcycle adventure tourer lovers in Indonesia. This new variant presents a toughness that will inherit the spirit of "go anywhere" from its predecessor.

Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin type Adventure Sports comes with updates in various sectors that make this sport bike more comfortable when cruising on dirt roads, long distance touring, even more agile riding on urban roads and winding roads. This new option completes two choices of Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin that have been introduced last year, the standard type (STD) and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT).

Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin Adventure Sports still carries a lightweight but powerful engine, with a proven parallel twin-cylinder liquid-cooled configuration. The chassis is maintained for adventure agility in either on-road or off-road, whether it is used across the continents or in urban rides.

Adventure Sports variant strengthens Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin by adding throttle by wire technology to adjust the power outlet level precision and riding mode options are offered to rider like. This model is enriched with gearshift with DCT system that allows manual or automatic mode selection. Some additional features also further strengthen the look of tough through changes in the front suspension sector, fuel tank, panel meter, extended fairing protection, wider skid plate and taller windshield.

AHM President Director Toshiyuki Inuma said that Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin Adventure Sports inherited DNA Rally Dakar and Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin toughness that is legendary since three decades ago. Big bike adventure Honda is the right choice to cross the streets in various fields.

The True Adventurer
Motor adventure tourer Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin equipped with powerful engine and dynamic chassis to explore on-road and off-road. Its appearance is brave and tall as typical of a true adventurer motor, carrying the theme of design "unlimited adventure".

A true adventure aura is implemented through a strong body style design and minimal weight, offering a slim body to support agility. Adventure Sports type has a taller windshield to provide maximum protection from wind exposure.

Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin Adventure Sports has a skid plate (protector at the bottom of the machine) that is designed wider. This latest model also get a body protector, a circular iron to protect the fairing and the bottom of the lamp. The seat is 30 mm higher than the STD and DCT type, now 860 mm, but still adjustable. Fuel tank capacity is now more, to 24.2 liters from the previous which only 18 liters, providing experience for driving with a longer distance.

Showa Adventure Sports type suspension has a longer travel distance than before, but adjustment can still be fully made. This suspension combines with Nissin 4 piston double-brake calipers, wavy disk brakes, and equipped with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The Showa rear suspension uses an adjustable spring preload type, also higher than other types. The front wheels measuring 21 inches and 18 inches rear with tires measuring 90 / 90-21 and 150 / 70-18.

Another update on the Adventure Sports type is the embedded LCD panel meter with a digital system that provides important information ranging from speedometer, trip meter, average fuel consumption, fuel residue, tachometers, and engine temperature. The function of electronic devices can also be monitored from this panel.

Throttle By Wire
Another update, Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin Adventure Sports brings throttle by wire technology to arrange power outlet level precision which is adjustable through riding mode options. This technology has proven to make the acceleration more responsive, but more fuel efficient. This technology combines with a 998 cc parallel-twin engine with 4 unicam head valves. The combination produces a maximum power of 69.2 kW @ 7,500 rpm, and peak torque of 95.4 Nm @ 6,000 rpm.

The character of this motorcycle that has strong torque and power in all engine rotation (RPM), especially can be felt at high RPM. Honda CRF1000L chassis Twin Adventure Sports supports three major sectors, namely performance on off-road, comfort while touring, and agility when driving daily. Embedded of steel with semi-double cradle frame brings balance when traveling to far distance, even when full of load.

The electronic system as a whole is able to cope with any conditions, either driving on an asphalt track or exploring off-road terrain. Thanks to Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system that offers seven stages of control (mode), which allows riders to disable ABS rear wheels and get the sensation of driving as desired.

Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)
Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) comes as a powerful engine pair Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin Adventure Sports. Users can choose to use manual or automatic mode via the button on the left hand side of the handelbar.

D Mode offers the best balance between fuel consumption and ride comfort, while the S mode provides additional sports performance with three choices of S1, S2 and S3. There is a "G switch" for clutch use and power fluctuations when running at low RPM. When the "G" button is turned off, power delivery will be softer.

DCT also detects uphill conditions, which can inhibit high RPM while shifting gears up. Conversely, when the path decreases, downshifts occur early to allow engine braking better.

AHM markets Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin through three options. Standard type and DCT are offered in red and white combination (Victory Red). While the Adventure Sports type has a color choice, namely Tricolor, a combination of red, white, and blue.

Standard Type is marketed at Rp485.000.000,- (on the road DKI Jakarta) and DCT type is priced Rp520.000.000,-. While the highest type, Adventure Sports, marketed Rp585.000.000,-. This tough motorcycle will be available in 11 Big Wing dealers in August 2018.
