Honda Civic “Red Edition” Celebrates Arrival of Honda Civic Type R into Dealerships
MELBOURNE, 03 Oct,. — In anticipation of the all-new Honda Civic Type R rolling into dealerships across the country this month, Honda Australia has released a special sporty “Red Edition” of the Civic hatch.

The Civic “Red Edition” pack will be available across four hatch grades – VTi^, VTi-S^, VTi-L, and VTi-LX with a Recommended Retail Price of $2,498* fitted.

The Civic hatch “Red Edition” pack will be limited to just 228 vehicles — equal to the equivalent power output of the all-new Honda Civic Type R, which in its Australian tune, produces 228 kW and 400 Nm from its high-tech 2.0-litre VTEC Turbo engine.

For extra peace-of-mind, the Honda Civic “Red Edition” — like all Hondas — now also benefits from Honda’s new standard 5 year / unlimited kilometre warranty program#.

The “Red Edition” will be available with four colour variants: White Orchid Pearlescent, Lunar Silver Metallic, Sonic Grey Pearlescent, and Crystal Black Pearlescent.
On the VTi, VTi-S, VTi-L and VTi-LX models, the Civic “Red Edition” offers:
·         17-inch black alloys (4)
·         Front Under Spoiler — Red
·         Rear Under Spoiler — Red
·         Side skirt set — Red
·         Red Edition floor mats

“When we launched the Civic sedan last year, we developed the “Black Pack” accessories and early this year we produced a limited run of “Orange Pack” accessories for the Civic hatch,” Honda Australia Director, Mr. Stephen Collins, said. “Both were very popular with customers and sold out.

“This time around Honda Australia has managed to secure a limited number of “Red Edition” Civics to coincide with the arrival of the Civic Type R into Australia,” Mr. Collins said.

“Customers love the boldness of the Honda Civic sedan and hatch and the eye-catching “Red Edition” is an attention-grabbing styling statement for Civic customers looking to add some individuality to their cars,” he said.

The “Red Edition” is the perfect way to celebrate the arrival of the Honda Civic Type R, which represents the ‘hot-hatch’ performance halo for the Civic brand. Honda Australia already holds more than 350 orders for the Civic Type R and has had more than 6,500 pre-registrations.

Honda Australia expects more than 400 Type Rs to arrive before the end of the year to satisfy the significant early demand for the Nürburgring Nordschleife lap-record holder.

For Australia, the Honda Civic Type R will be available in one engine specification, a 2.0-litre VTEC Turbo engine mated to a new close-ratio six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching capability. Visually the car features a track-tested aero kit with front and side splitters, a rear diffuser, vortex generators at the trailing edge of the roof line and a rear wing spoiler, all designed to keep the Civic Type R planted on the road.

Key to its abilities are the three driving modes — Comfort, Sport (default), and +R — which provide an unrivalled combination of every day useability for commuting and track-honed dynamism.

“After driving the Civic Type R, potential customers will appreciate the flexibility of the adjustable driving modes and the amount of compliance they provide for every-day driving,” Mr. Collins said.

The 3-mode driver-selectable system adjusts steering and throttle response, transmission rev-matching, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) threshold, and the Adaptive Damper System. The Honda Civic Type R strikes a fine balance between extreme performance and every day usability.

The Honda Civic Type R’s high level of technology also extends to its comprehensive standard feature list. Apart from the three driving modes, safety is priority; among the standard safety kit is Honda Sensing, LaneWatch, ABS, Traction Control System (TCS) and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA). For entertainment lovers, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® is also standard as part of the Type R’s connectivity package.

Honda Sensing includes:
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
  • Road Departure Mitigation System (RDMS)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

* Excludes Dealer Delivery and statutory charges
^When applied to VTi and VTi-S, the black 17-inch alloy wheels require matching upsize tyres (sold separately), which would incur additional cost.
#5-Year Unlimited Kilometre Warranty available on all vehicles except those used for commercial purposes, where a 5 year/140,000 kilometre (whichever occurs first) warranty is applicable. Honda warranties apply where due care is exercised by the owner and the vehicle is maintained in accordance with the Owner's Warranty and Service Manual.
